Your Must Read For The Week The Golden Age of Libertarianism That Never Was By Nick Gillespie | January 18, 2012
To Frank, fears that government intervention into the economy and debt-fueled spending helped to cause and perpetuate the financial crisis are plainly “imaginary.” He believes that the economic “theories” America is currently embracing are hardcore austerity measures ripped from the playbook of Herbert Hoover, circa 1929.
Where to begin separating facts from opinions? For starters, it’s simply wrong to claim, as Frank does, that “the main political response to [the financial crisis of 2008] is a campaign to roll back regulation, to strip government employees of the right to collectively bargain, and to clamp down on federal spending.” Lest we forget, the major response to the financial crisis in 2008 was the bailing out of Wall Street and the auto companies under a conservative Republican president and the implementation of an $800 billion stimulus plan promoted by a Democratic president. That’s not to mention a health-care reform package that was routinely described as “historic” and “transformational” at its passage. Ironically, such immediate, massive and — in the case of the stimulus — ineffective actions are in keeping with those of Herbert Hoover. After all, the stimulus failed to achieve any of the targets set by its proponents.
I invite, encourage, entice, influence, pressure, persuade, cajole, coax, plead, request can I demand? Or would a threat of bodily harm move you to read FULL ARTICLE at http://reason.com/archives/2012/01/18/the-golden-age-of-libertarianism-that-ne This is NECESSARY INFORNATION, making it a MUST READ. This article is “Chuckfull” of significant history and analysis. GET THE FACTS CONTAINED IMPRINTED ON YOUR MIND. THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND AND BE READY TO PRESENT COGENT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. READ THE FULL ARTICLE and then FORWARD IT TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E-MAILLIST.

PersonalViews Get your donations ready. The South Carolina Primary election is today Saturday. Since South Carolina is not a “cut the military” State, if Ron Paul comes in third it will be seen as a win. If it happens, then send him a message that you think he should continue by sending him a $100.00 check. If he is third place but within 999 votes from second place, that would be a big win. You then would want to send him a $200.00 check to pay for more ads in the Florida race. If he wins second place, that would be a huge win. Which means you will want to send $300.00 to pay for Florida ads exposing the front runners. If he wins the South Carolina Primary then send him $500.00 he will need extra money to defend himself from attack ads from the second and third place candidates. The only obstacle to a Ron Paul Nomination is Money and Newt Gingrich. If we take care of the money, Ron Paul can take care of Gingrich. Ron Paul for President 2012.

The disingenuous “liberty isn’t the only value” attack by liberals and conservatives on libertarianism by Stephan Kinsella The Libertarian Standard
“In recent years and months, both Austrian economics and libertarianism have received increased attention and criticism. The more recent attention is probably in part due to Ron Paul’s visibility and his publicizing both types of ideas. I suppose it’s a good sign that they are no longer ignoring us. Now they feel compelled to respond. But it would be nice if they didn’t misrepresent and distort our views.” (01/18/12) tinyurl.com/6ty5wrg

Restriction or Legalization? Measuring the Economic Benefits of Immigration Reform by Maureen T. Rimmer and Peter B. Dixon
A policy that reduces the number of low-skilled immigrant workers by 28.6percent compared to projected levels would reduce U.S. household incomes by about 0.5percent, or $80 billion.
legalization of low-skilled immigrant workers would yield significant income gains for American workers and households.
Legalization would allow immigrants to have higher productivity and create more openings for Americans in higher-skilled occupations.
T he positive impact for U.S. households of legalization under an optimal visa tax would be 1.27 percent of GDP or $180 billion.
The difference between the long-run welfare effects for U.S. households of the worst and best policies that we considered—that is, the income gap between the tighter-border-enforcement policy and the liberalized policy with an optimal visa charge is about $260 billion a year

After immigration crackdown, farmers mull planting By KATE BRUMBACK, Associated Press
Since the laws were approved last year, farmers in Alabama and Georgia have reported labor shortages because migrant workers aren't showing up and they say they can't find other workers to fill the jobs. Farmers and state officials have said that some produce was left to rot in the field last year because there weren't enough workers to help with the harvest. Some farmers said they might reduce the number of acres they plant or shift to less labor-intensive crops, while others are bracing for higher labor prices, growers aren't ordering seeds or new equipment because they anticipate a labor shortage. "Before this law, migrant workers would just show up. They knew when they were needed," Hall said. "That's not happening anymore."
In Georgia, some growers of the state's famed Vidalia onions are planting fewer acres of the labor-intensive crop, which could lead to a roughly 10 percent drop in production. The smaller crop will mean consumers will pay more for the prized sweet onions. said Bob Stafford, director of the Vidalia Onion Business Council. WordViews by Walt Clark
enmity EN-mih-tee (noun): Hatred; ill will; hostile or unfriendly disposition
SYNONYMS:
animosity is an ongoing, or action oriented version of enmity
hostility is even more active than animosity in the hatred
rancor is more wishful than active, like enmity, but a more deep-seated, almost historical hatred
Use enmity when your first choice is hatred but it’s not as serious as animosity or hostility.
WORD WISE: Enmity derives from Old French enemistie, ultimately from Latin inimicus, "an enemy," from in-, "not" + amicus, "friend," from amare, "to love."
QUOTE: "In the course of our conversation he reverted to yesterday's aphorism about it being our joint task to guide our two peoples out of their old enmity into new amity."

I respect your political idealism, Mr. McGlawn. I just believe you are putting the cart before the horse again.
I suggest that you listen closely to the questions that the following videos present then come to a personal conclusion of whether or not your voice really matters or your vote really counts under our current system.

You won't find another voice in the mainstream media that asks these pertinent questions.
The fundamental system must be addressed before your candidate of choice has a fair chance.
Hint: You won't change the system by telephoning or writing your congressman or even by sending money to your candidate of choice.
Good luck.
Well, Mr. McGlawn... I see that with 95% of the SC vote counted that one of the most crooked and hypocritical morally deficient politicians of our time is winning by a landslide with 40% of the vote. The runner up is Romney with 27%. Santorum is 3rd with 17%. RP is essentially last with 13%.
Personally I don't trust vote counts anymore than I trust the Consumer Price Index or unemployment reports.
But for those of you who do trust vote counts you'll surely concur the SC GOP primary reflects badly on the state of our nation.
Incidently, Mr. McGlawn, thank you for the link to RSM's interview of Julian Assange. I think that should be the final nail in the coffin of investigative journalism worldwide. The message rings loud and clear.
I consider myself a very lucky man to have lived during the era of Watergate and the Pentagon Papers when journalists were actually honored for uncovering high-level scandals and promoting transparency. Oh what sweet times those were!

I got my news of the SC results from you. I am very disappointed Ron Paul will go all the way to California, but he will not do as well as he did in New Hampshire. Anonymous Anonymous said...

I do not know what you mean with that statement. I will tell you this, Political action is not my top priority. I did have some hope for Ron Paul. But it looks as if it is not to be. However, even if Ron Paul got the Rep. Nomination, and went on to become President, there is nothing he could do to prevent the collapse of the US government and its money.

I will listen and watch, but I doubt whether the content will change my direction. Pal's winning or loosing will not change my direction. And let me say this, while we seem to be talking to each other. IF ANY GOAL THAT YOU MAY BE WORKING TO ACCOMPLISH, IF THAT GOAL REQUIRES THE INITIATION OF FORCE TO ACCOMPLISH, THEN YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE. Whether ir is stopping illegal immigration, or increasing the penality for drug use because of the damage it does to the population, you are on the wrong side.
A4 said, Hint: You won't change the system by telephoning or writing your congressman
This I know, and have known for decades.
A4 said, "or even by sending money to your candidate of choice."
I did have some hope in that direction. But who knows. .
The results are disappointing.
A4 said, "Personally I don't trust vote counts anymore than I trust the Consumer Price Index or unemployment reports."
We know the CPI is and unemployment numbers are incorrectly reported. But for voting, who knows?

There has never been a more opportune time in recent political history for a third party to recruit disgruntled democrat and republican constituents, Mr. McGlawn. Find a good marketing professional to sell your organization. To be a recognized political force the libertarians need more dues-paying members. Make hay while the sun shines. It's a shame you promote such a anti-American platform on open borders and immigration. It's an automatic deal-breaker for many of us.
A4, I cannot speak freely on this platform. If you want to continue getting feedback from me, e-mail Chuckest@aol.com
Well, I never thought I'd live to see the day when Newt Gingrich would be a serious GOP contender in the race for the POTUS.
I thought he was done when he resigned his congressional seat and title of Speaker in 1998. Wasn't he one of the founders of the 'family values' movement?
Now Rasmussen has him up in Florida by about the same margin he had in SC.
I guess the nation's decline has been much steeper than I thought.
